“Apex indexed” reflects the way our physical actions are captured and organised into digital systems—technology quietly shaping how we respond and interact.

This image was made by pressing inked fingers onto glass, forming a self-generated print that shifts in meaning. It can resemble a seed head, an atom, or a cluster of faces looking upward—suggesting both growth and observation.

While making it, I thought about how every tap, swipe, and scroll creates data.
These small gestures build a vast digital record of our behaviours, preferences, and movements—instantly, and with real-world energy impact. Our imprints are constant, even when we’re unaware.

So where does autonomy sit within this? Technology doesn’t just record us—it begins to guide and shape us. Are we too dependent to question it?

Can we still remember life before smartphones, before this constant digital presence? And for those growing up entirely within it, will there be space to reconnect with a slower, more physical way of being? Are we developing with that capacity intact?

As an artist, I pay attention to how people move through the world—what surrounds them, what affects them, and how they physically engage with their environment.
Printmaking becomes my way of holding onto time. It resists speed. It asks for presence, it's a slow process that takes time to achieve results.

Perhaps UX design can also move in this direction—toward balance rather than control. Toward a relationship between the digital and physical that feels more mutual, more human.” 2026
